Christmas on a budget (2)

Once again I found myself struggling for a great, fun, creative, cheap, inexpensive gift for my son's teacher. My son loves crayons (gee wonder where he got that one from)! We created this fabulous crayons wreath! Hopefully his teacher loves it!
Finished, applause and ohhs are greatly appreciated!

Now before you say, this is too much work, the entire project took 30 minutes!!!!!
I used a styrofoam wreath form, any will do. Michaels had them on sale and I just couldn't pass them up!
First step, wrap the wreath in ribbon, I used two inch yellow ribbon (teacher's favorite color). Wrap the wreath making sure to slightly overlap the ends. This will help to keep the ribbon flat. Secure with glue, any will do, can you say hot glue?
sorry the camera didn't want to take a nice picture, or maybe it was the operator!

Step Two, glue the crayons to the desired position. I wanted a cleaner edge, I lined my crayons up on the inside edge of the wreath. My 12" wreath took 85 crayons. I started by placing a straight pin in the wreath to help stabilize the wreath. Using hot glue (fast and easy) I glued the crayons around the wreath.
Continue until you have a small space left! Yes make sure you glue as you go or those crayons might roll all around!

Next step add the ribbon to hang the wreath. I used yellow polka dot 1" grograin ribbon. on the end side of the wreath, create a loop and glue! Easy as PIE!

Continue gluing the crayons until they all meet and you are finished. Christmas present, beautful and cheap ,  creative for less than five dollars.

Until Next time!

Christmas on a budget

It's that crazy time of year when everyone is struggling to find the money to make great gifts. This year, my kids and I decided to make Christmas special by recycling and handmaking our gifts. Teacher and classmate gifts for less than ten dollars. Now that is my type of holiday!

Crayons for the classmates- simple and green. What more could you ask for. These are great for birthay party favors as well.
Find and break the old crayons. Fill a rubber mold in the desired shape, we choose snowmen!
place in a preheated oven at 250 for ten minutes.Let cool and pop from mold.

Beautiful gifts for free!
