I told my friend Chelle (I got to her for all of my things I need saved) and said, I need bottle caps! and this is what I got!
There were 80 in all! I just love her! The funny part was I knew I wanted them but wasn't exactly sure what or how I was going to use them! About three days later, when I was looking around the house, it hit me that I would use them to create the tops of the Legos.
Using old cereal and pop tart boxes, I created what I like to call flat Legos! Take your boxes and cut them open so they create one long box, paint the inside.
Trim off the unpainted parts and trim along to make four pieces (what would be the front, back and two sides of the boxes)
Using the bottle caps, trace the desired number of circles onto the back of the sides. this way when you cut them out you have a finished edge. You could also use a hole punch if you have one big enough.
Glue the bottle caps and the cardboard pieces to the cereal box and you have a finished lego.
Next, I took shipping boxes and painted them in red, blue, green and yellow. It took about two coats of paint.
Using the same bag of bottle caps, glued bottle caps to the top and painted them. Woo hoo more legos!
Although, I ended up not using them all, I created 15 legos like this! The best part is I made them with things I had all around the house, so all it cost me was about two hours of time and I had my kids help, so we did them together!
