Another one bites the dust!

March is almost gone and I couldn't be happier. Ok, March was a hard month for me. Each month for the next year, my 30th year, I have decided to make a goal a month. February was a great month, I took my vitamin each and everyday.  It was an easy one. March on the other hand was to exercise each day. The first week was the worst, my poor little legs were throbbing!  Some days were harder than others especially when I wanted to crawl into bed and sleep. I hung in there and made it. Thank you to my friend Kim, who recommended a great site, Sparkpeople.com. LOVE LOVE LOVE this website.

Drum Roll Please.... not only did I meet March's goal of doing some sort of exercise a month, but I lost 8 pounds! That wasn't a goal but it does feel good! I have to admit, creating this 30 year goal list was a modification of an article I read (sorry cant remember where) that said if most people would make their new year resolution into small pieces we would actually be successful. Imagine that.

Thanks for all of the emails and support! Sayounara March and Aloha April!

Hau`oli la Ho'omana'o (Happy Anniversary)

Bride and Groom listening to toasts
What a wonderful day it is when  I can celebrate with friends their second Male 'ana (wedding) anniversary. It seems like it was only yesterday that we were planning and making the invitations, trying to figure out out to save money and celebrate their love.  It was a beautiful day in Hawaii (like what day isn't?), started off like any other, playing on the beach and enjoyng the sunshine. We spent the next few hours laughing and celebrating. It was a fantastic ceremoney filled with love, laughs and beautiful memories.

my favorite picture, love the holding of hands

I love this picture or maybe it is the many memories that come with it. Trying to hunt down the perfect wedding band in just weeks. Many moments looking at rings, discussing price and then finally settling on the perfect band. Don't you just love ring shopping?
Beautiful Bride

Morgan, the beautiful bride, wanted a simple celebration with friends and family. She is just glowing on her wedding day isn't she? You could just feel the love pouring from her and her groom. Lindsey had never ended smiles on her face and couldn't be happier to be getting married. I was blessed and honored to be apart of their wedding and more importantly to have such great friends in my life.

Wedding party

If there is one thing I have learned living in Hawaii is that friends and ohana (family) are the most important "things" in life. They are what makes life special!  Thank you Lindsey and Morgan for wonderful memories and Happy 2nd Anniversary! Hau`oli la Ho'omana'o (pronounced how-oh-lay la ho-o-ma-na-o). I love you both!

Aloha!

Wear Purple for Epilepsy Day!

Today is a very special day! Wear PURPLE for EPILEPSY Day. I have a very dear friend whose son has epilepsy and it breaks my heart to know what their family has to go through. In Honor of my friend and her son, I want to share some facts about epilepsy:
Epilepsy is a neurological condition that causes the brain to produce sudden bursts of electrical energy; because of this sudden burst the brain has to have balance, when balance is not achieved a seizure may occur. As you may know seizures are very scary and can vary in severity. Although doctors know some of the causes of epilepsy, many many people have no clue as to why they have been born or developed this. For more information on Epilepsy please visit http://www.epilepsyadvocate.com/.

Show your support and wear purple!

All the Numbers

Sitting with my peanut today, brought back a great memory that brings tears to my eye. He said "Mama, tell me the number story."   Ok, it was only three years ago but when your son is five, three years seems so long!  It was a cold winter's night (wow that sounds like the start of a story told by my grandpa), peanut was having a hard time sleeping and he wanted to crawl into bed with me.
Crawling into bed, he asked me to read. We read an excerpt from the story, All the Numbers by Judy Merrill Larsen (great book by the way, tear jearker but well worth the read). In the story the little boy is asking his mama how much she loves him and she replies all the numbers.
Tear jerker alert!

Three days later my little peanut says to me as I am putting him into bed. "Mama, I love you all the numbers all the time." From that day on, there isn't a day that goes by that I do not hear or say those words!  One of my favorite Mama Moments.

Feeling lucky!!!!

As many of you know, I turned the big 3-0 last month. (insert gaps and screams here) Ok, I will admit it wasn't anything like I thought it would be. Everyone had me dreading it, I was even thinking, my life seems over.

Then my little sister gave me a swift kick in the ass booty and I realized instead of 30 being a big scary number it was a great oppurtunity to start a new decide off right! I came up with a goal a month, similar to a new years resolution, but much more likely to follow through as I have a month to accomplish the goal!

February's goal was litte but I did a little dance when I accomplished it.
February's goal was to take a vitamin every day! *Standing up, taking a bow*..... I did! I remembered each day and let me tell you I feel like a new woman.

Today, being March 1, was the start of another goal. This one might be a little harder to keep, but it was to exercise daily. Day 1= complete, I walked one mile.

Stay tuned for more updates and more posts from our crazy adventures in paradise!
