Safety First (Gimmie a Hand)

When I go shopping, I have to get kids out of the car, get their belongings ready, get my things ready and I am always worried about what can happen.

My kiddos cannot get themselves out of my car with out me opening the door for them, because of the child safety locks, which are a great thing. My problem is what do I do with Peanut while I am getting Pumpkin out of the car and putting her in the car. I also tell him to stay close to the car, and often catch him walking around the car or trying to open his door.

One day, I was driving in the parking lot and I saw a car with one of the awareness ribbons on the back and it was like a light bulb went off, or maybe a ton of bricks hit me? Why not give the kids a spot to wait for me and only in this spot.

I went through my craft supplies and found magnet sheets. Using one of the sheets I had on hand (no pun intended), I traced the kids hand prints onto it and cut them out. I have found magnet sheets at craft stores and home improvement stores for about $3-4 a sheet.

After I cut them out. I took them to the back of the car to figure out the placement. The nice part is I can easily move them around to put them where they need to be.

Now, when I am getting kiddos in and out of the car, I can tell them to give me a hand and they know exactly where to stand to be safe! If only I would have thought of this sooner! I love that the can easily be removed; if we are traveling and using a rental car or RV, I can easily move them to that vehicle and I know they are still safe.
