Bath Tub Paints

I saw this paint idea on Pinterest and fell in love with the idea of creating paints for the kiddos. Bath tub paint, crayons and supplies are so expensive, it just blows my mind.

It was a rainy day and the kids wanted to play outside in the rain but it was WAY too cold to do that, so I decided to let them play in the tub and we made the bath tub paint.

We started by making the bath tub paint, the recipe is so simple, I love it! Mix food coloring and shaving cream to create desired colors. We used some of the recipes for colors on the back of the box (you know the ones for egg dying) and then just the colors by themselves.

Using a toothpick to mix the paint and colors, we created our artist's palette. I had extra basting brushes that I gave to the kiddos to use as their paint brushes.

The colors turned out awesome and the kiddos had a blast, at one point, I had to add some warmer water because they had been in there so long. The best part of the activity, it was things we had already at home. the shaving cream is Mr's and I got it on sale for $0.25! I would say we barely made a dent in the can.

Here is some the kiddos artwork:

Peanut drew a picture for his uncle!

I was worried about the food coloring in the tub, but it washed off wonderfully. The red took a tiny bit of scrubbing but it was fine. I actually think it helped to clean my tub. Not bad for a rainy day activity!
