Review: Children's Books

We all know that I have an obsession with kids books. they make me smile and I read them constantly with my kiddos as well as use them in my classrooms. When I was approached to review these two newly published books, I jumped at the chance!

I read and fell in love with two books, the first one is Lil Boo at the Zoo. It was a great story about a boy who visits the zoo and his adventures with a magical key. What I loved about this book was the simple fact that different facts about animals and the environment were incorporated into the story, my kiddos didn't even realize they were reading and learning at the same time. Those are my favorite types of books. I adore the artwork as well. It has a hand drawn feel to it.

Here is the title page and s sample of the artwork from the book:

The second book is entitled: Outside with Lil Boo

I love the same things about this book, it is an easy read, there are facts incorporated into the text, this book also has rhyming. I love that as i was reading the book with my kiddos they could follow along with the story and learn and predict because the text lends it's self to do so!

Even my two year old was becoming excited as we were reading because she could join in and felt like she was "reading." Here is the title page and a sample page from the book.

Lastly, here is the author and illustrator information page.

What impressed me most about this book is that the author Daddy Bookins (Cameron Davison) was they were self published in September 2011 and then picked up by Inkwell Productions and published with a release date of January 14, 2012. To find out more information about these books check out DaddyBookins.com or read Camerson Blog at Peas and Bananas.
