Teach At Home Thursday: Brain Sprinkles

When I was observing one of the teachers at my previous schools, she had  this amazing idea to help motivate the children to learn and stay focused. She called them Brain sprinkles or Brain power. What I loved about them is they are: one simple to make and two you can pretty much make them with things from around the house. The other thing I loved is the kiddos seemed to really embrace the concept.

I decided to recreate my own for use at home with Peanut and Pumpkin.
I started with an old cheese container, a spice jar and an old medicine bottle.

Using some old buttons, seed beads and glitter, I filled the containers half way up.
The buttons, because the kiddos are cute as buttons.
The seed beads to plant the seeds of knowledge and
the glitter to make you shine!

In the cheese container and spice container, I glued a piece of plastic wrap over the holes so that nothing fell out of the holes. I also added a small amount of glue around the rim of all three bottles to make sure they stayed tight.  On the medicine container, I colored the lid black, just because I didn't want the words to show!

Now when we are about to do something together, I shake a little of the Brain Sprinkles over the kiddos and it really helps! The little jars are for the kiddos when they think they need a little brain sprinkle. They love being able to fill up their brain whenever they want to!

Here it the label I created to put over the bigger jar

and here is the label to put over the small jars.

You could also use some old rice and dye it to make it colorful or some pony beads. Whatever you have laying around!

 Happy Sprinkling!
